The epidemic is harvest time for cheaters. Criminals scam data, money, sell things that have no real value. Here is a list of the most popular tricks that were used for several weeks. The article was created in cooperation with PKO Bank Polski. I'm not a good target for online fraudsters.
Ransomware is constantly harassing entrepreneurs, hackers are diversifying attacks and are not saving any industry. Although the authors of the report admit that among the criminal groups there have been no significant changes, the same players still dominate, but there are also two interesting trends. First, some attackers gave up attacks on healthcare institutions in connection with the COVID-19 pandemic...
Ransomware is one of the most dangerous ways hackers make quick money. For companies, it is ruthless, because it paralyzes entire networks, cuts off access to data, deprives of data collected over the years. How to protect yourself from the financial consequences of such an attack? An expenditure of just a few dozen PLN can save you from the ransomware problems.
Yesterday we received information about disturbing contact attempts, which concerned several people from different parts of Poland. The only thing we were able to determine is that these people were connected for they were in quarantine. These people reported that they had received a phone call from someone who, when introducing himself as an employee of the Ministry of Digitization, Kazimierz "Szmit", asked for "filling in the missing data".
Usually, on www.niebezpiecznik.pl, we describe attacks that have taken place and resulted in the loss of data or money. Today it will be different. In the morning we received information from a friend company Miquido that their HR department received a strange email.
Many of us don't see the boss in times of corona-crisis. We talk on the phone, write emails, participate in video conferences. It's a treat for cyber criminals.
Online banking is a great possibility, but one also need to be constantly alert. Fraudsters are constantly looking for new ways to rob bank customers of their money. This time, customers using the online services of PKO BP, i.e. the largest bank in Poland, were in their crosshairs.
This month, Polish Post Offices's image is of interest to online fraudsters. Only since April 20th this year, at least 24 fake domains have been registered imitating the real address of the Polish Post Office We remind you that the correct address is www.poczta-polska.pl. Messages of such content are sent to telephone numbers: Hello [Name], your parcel was sent for obligatory disinfection.
People who are waiting for collection of parcels should pay special attention to notifications. Fraudsters impersonate the Polish Post Office and, using the fear of coronavirus, inform about the alleged need to disinfect the package.
The state of the epidemic and its consequences - mostly restricting leaving home and other restrictions on access to certain places and services - contrary to common wisdom, can be usefully exploited in order to try to carry out a digital revolution in your life and finances. However, there is a great role here for people that have more knowledge of the technological world how to be a good guide for our parents or grandparents.
